What to Expect

When we begin therapy, we’ll explore your history, needs, symptoms, and goals to create an individualized treatment plan. I use an integrative approach, meaning I use different treatment methods to meet your needs. While I’ll personalize therapy for you, I primarily draw on the Internal Family Systems Model (IFS). During sessions, I’ll provide compassionate feedback and support as you examine your thoughts, emotions, patterns, and experiences. Together, we’ll work toward your goals and relief from distressing symptoms.

Internal Family Systems

IFS (also called “parts work”) is a therapeutic approach that helps you understand and accept your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors by viewing your inner world as a community of different "parts." Just like people have different roles and personalities in their external lives, IFS suggests that we have various parts within us, each with its own feelings and motivations. These parts can sometimes clash or cause distress. This is often the case for individuals who’ve experienced trauma.

The goal of IFS therapy is to create harmony among these parts by acknowledging and addressing their concerns. By getting to know these parts and their unique qualities, individuals can develop a healthier and more compassionate relationship with themselves, leading to improved emotional well-being and self-understanding.

“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.”
