Good Faith Estimate

Under federal law, if you don't have health insurance or are not using any to pay for services, your health care provider must provide you with an estimate of your bill for services. This document is called a Good Faith Estimate and must be given to you before services are administered.

Under the No Surprises Act you have the right to:

  • Receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of services upon request or when scheduling services.

  • Receive a Good Faith Estimate in a way that is accessible to you.

  • Have your provider explain the estimate to you upon request.

  • Dispute a bill for services that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers or call 1-800-985-3059.
